"SUMMER BRIDGE" STEWARDSHIP

Nothing is more important than planting a seed...

For the second year in a row, Shored Up had the priviledge of taking Hampton University's "Summer Bridge" students on a narrated kayak tour of the historic Hampton River! For many of the students, it was their first time kayaking, and for all of the students, it was their first time on the river!

We dodged Summer storms while exploring a wonderful urban oasis--full of history, ecology and conservation. We also had a first by seeing--and catching with our hand!--a pipefish, a cousin to the seahorse! Alas, it was not caught on a camera, although it will forever be in our memories.

For us, nothing is more important than helping to be "a bridge of stewardship" and planting the seeds of caring for our environment--especially when it comes to our next generations.
